It appears that television series are changing, becoming more like novels than a formulaic design for each week's show.  Not all of them -- but many of the "greats" right now, for instance Breaking Bad -- tell a long story with a greater stress on character arc.  They have a built-in beginning and end, instead of the writers hoping for an ongoing run on tv.  Do you see this too, and how does it change how we pitch a series and write the pilot for the show?
