Goleman's 'Emotional Intelligence' is quite good too

McKee's "Story" is a great book because he's a no bullshit guy and his book is no bullshit too. Simple. Practicle. And fillllleddd with endless riches. I first it when I was 15; I'm 23, almost 24, and I've read it six times over; the book is almost in tatters from being carried everywhere from high school math classes to the lunch room, to a host of college dorms, university classrooms, apartments, picnic tables, library stalls, all the way to my desk at home.

There's always something more to get from "Story" --especially after reading it once.

I'm currently reading 'For your own good: Hidden cruelty in child-rearing and the roots of violence' by Alice Miller (ISBN: 978-0374522698). The book discusses the dangers of 'poisonous pedagogy' and the impact it has had on individuals and society itself. It includes interesting sections that focus on Christine F. and Hitler. I've found it to be an interesting resource in shaping both Antagonists and Protagonists.
