I appreciate the thoughtful response and have thought about it as I write my story -it's helped me out a lot. I was wondering wouldn't 2001: A Space Odyssey also be an example of epic horror? Everyone will take it differently but HAL is often called one of the best sci-fi monsters of all time and David Bowman's journey is an internal struggle, but with an epic theme of human evolution/spirituality and an epic setting of outer space and the dawn of history to the near future. Terminator is another example: 50% horror 50% action? Sometimes I think you could have a horror story set in an epic time: like the French Revolution or a future space colonization attempt, etc. You're right though - it's all about getting the right blend.

I'm in Carol Anne's DMIT 1013 Story Content class at NAIT (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and she further elaborated on your response. Your advice (I've seen many other videos on your site) and her lessons have been integral to my story and so once again, thank you both :)
