Although Egri was dead wrong (or: his theory has become outdated) his name was Lajos, and not Laszlo.
That "Laszlo" must have been a slip of the tongue from someone who watched Casablanca far too many times:)

Forrest Gump was a dimensionless character, i.e. the same on the inside as he appeared on the outside. he simply wasn't smart enough or fearful enough to engage in the same sort of character scam the rest of us engage in. I think the movie worked because Gump stood in contrast to the insane world that surrounded him.
